March 2019

Welcome back from Spring Break! You have reached the mid-term period. This means there are seven full weeks of classes left before the Spring 2019 semester ends. Here are a few tips for the mid-term period:

Tip #1 – Spring break has ended so turn your main focus back to your classes in order to finish well. We strongly encourage attending class regularly, visiting the UCAE, or attending supplemental instruction/other tutoring services for help, if necessary. Meet with professors during their office hours to check on your status in the course.

Tip #2 – Look for ways to get more engaged in your major or your “home” department. Most departments have student organizations, special volunteer opportunities, or a friendly staff person who can help you get connected.

Tip #3 – Did you receive a mid-term grade notice on March 11th? If you need to improve your grade, you have seven full weeks left so make any necessary changes now. Your advisor may be contacting you to help you develop a plan moving forward. If you get a message from your advisor, make an appointment to discuss your status further.

Tip #4 – Withdrawal Reminders. All undergraduate students have 16 credit hours of withdrawals to use for any reason. If you need to withdraw from a course, the deadline to withdraw is Tuesday, March 19th @ 11:59 p.m. However, if an extenuating circumstance requires you to withdrawal from ALL classes, then visit Withdrawal Services for your next steps.
