September 2019

Congratulations! You have almost completed the first four weeks of the semester. We hope you have settled into your classes and everything is going well so far. Your Academic Advisor and your Assistant and Associate Deans in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences will be providing you with useful tips and advice that will support your success during this semester and beyond. Expect to receive these Just Sayin’ notices periodically throughout this term. Here are a few tips as you continue with your semester:

Tip #1 – If you haven’t done so by now, read each course syllabus provided on your Canvas site or by your professors. Pay close attention and adhere to all assignment due dates and deadlines, office hours, and any tutoring support indicated by your professors. Also, be familiar with the attendance policies and assume no late assignments will be accepted.

Tip #2Advising for the Spring 2020 semester has started! Your academic advisor has emailed you to request you make your advising appointment in CONNECT. Follow these instructions to make the appointment: https://advisingcenter.uncc.edu/see-advisor/make-appointment-your-advisor. If you don’t act quickly, you may not be able to get an appointment before Spring 2020 registration begins.

Tip #3 – Use DegreeWorks to plan ahead for your advising appointment. The courses required for your degree are listed in DegreeWorks. Click on “What If” if you are curious about another major, a minor, or thinking about a different major.

Tip #4 – If you received an early alert in a particular course, you can log into CONNECT to read more details. Even if you didn’t receive an early alert, we strongly encourage going to class, going to the UCAE, or attending supplemental instruction or other tutoring services for support. Meet with your professors during their office hours to check on your status in the course.
