Welcome Back to Students, Spring 2019

Spring 2019 – Welcome back!

Welcome Back and Welcome New Students to the Spring 2019 term from your Academic Advisor and Assistant and Associate Deans in the Office of Advising & Student Services in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. We will be providing you with useful tips and advice that will support your success during this semester and beyond. Expect to receive these Just Sayin’ notices periodically throughout this term. Here are a few tips for the start of the semester:

Tip #1 – Be sure you have all of the classes you need for the term. The deadline to add or drop classes or request a grade replacement is Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. Your schedule will be locked starting at midnight. You will not be able to add or remove any courses after this date.

Tip #2Read the course syllabus provided on your Canvas site or by your professors. Pay close attention and adhere to the special dates and deadlines, classroom policies, office hours, and any tutoring support indicated by your professors.

Tip #3 – Be familiar with the Academic Calendar for this term. All important dates and deadlines you need to know for the term are published here. For example, no classes will be held on Monday, January 21 due to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. But still make time to do your homework and any assigned readings.

Tip #4 – Heads-Up! Advising for the Fall 2019 semester will begin soon. Look for an email from your academic advisor and make your advising appointment in CONNECT as soon as you hear from your advisor. If you don’t act at that time, you may not be able to get an appointment before Fall 2019 registration begins. AND make sure you stay on track to graduation. Follow your degree progress in DegreeWorks.

Tip #5Check your uncc.edu email account daily. You cannot afford to miss all of the important information.
